I’m Moving!!

Goodbye, wordpress. Hello, tumblr. —> http://latom.tumblr.com/

WANTS/NEEDS

This is a semi-final autobiographical poster. The concept behind this design is this: I am not one to journal, blog, or otherwise chronicle my life. However, I have this tendency to keep every single receipt from every little transaction in my life – for no other reason then to keep them in my wallet. Those who know me can attest to this. In fact, I can never have small wallets because they cannot accommodate my stacks of receipts. So, when I was asked to design a poster about myself, I thought that my receipts were as close to a journal as I was going to get.

In case you haven’t figured it out – this poster is about going broke all the time (Translation: Being an art student.).

Imperfect Manifesto

For the first time in quite a long time, I actually had fun with this poster. It was just an exercise – but still, a satisfying result.

I think that stop motion animation is really growing on me. Possibly more to come??

OTIS Furniture Alphabet

Blog Alphabet-2

I am currently taking an Experimental Typography class where we will be exploring 2D, 3D, and 4D typography in non-traditional forms. Here is a small glimpse at the product of the first week’s project. We were told to go out and find or create the alphabet out of objects or situations through photography. Our only parameters were that we could not digitally alter our photographs, and that we could not venture out beyond walking distance of OTIS. I decided to find my alphabet by photographing Otis furniture at different angles. It proved to be quite difficult at times – especially with that darn “M.” But here it is, nonetheless. If you get a chance, you should check out our class blog! Experimental Typography

Take Your Time

more about “Take Your Time“, posted with vodpod

Labor day weekend was so relaxing. I spent my time in Chicago – which is by far, one of my favorite cities. I visited my favorite cafe, bought a fantastic handmade cocktail ring by a jewelry designer out of Rio de Janeiro, saw the new Modern wing of the Art Institute of Chicago, and discovered a new artist – Olafur Eliasson.

Well, Olafur Eliasson is not really new – but new to me. The exhibit was called Take Your Time, and it was a retrospective of Eliasson’s work, curated by SFMoMA. Unfortunately, the MCA exhibit was, for whatever reason, not quite as comprehensive as SFMoMA’s, and I would have liked to see the exhibit as it was originally intended. However, I was grateful for being able to see it at all. Eliasson’s play on light and space creates a graceful sort of ephemeral quality that appeals to the viewer. It was truly one of the most gorgeous exhibits I’ve ever seen, and I recommend it to anyone who can go see it. I wonder if the exhibit will make out to LA…In the meantime, I’ve posted a video that gives a little sneak preview into Take Your Time.
